Critical Acclaim

Here what some critics have had to say about Jeanine and He's Here:

He's Here is a brilliantly festive and finely produced body of work, a combination of traditional and original songs. The album glitters and shines decoratively in the joyous spirit of the holidays. The stunning album received extensive radio airplay in Euope last Christmas. The title track, "He's Here" earned Noyes an honourable mention from the Amadeus Choir Carol Writing Competition.

transparent

transparentOn transparent, Jeanine and her four-piece band deliver a moody groove that ranges from dark to country to funky. The well-crafted songs draw the audience in with an honesty that drops defenses and appeals to the heart.

Recorded in Toronto and Vancouver over a period of several months in 1999 and 2000, transparent is the culmination of many years of songwriting and touring. The CD was produced by Roy Salmond, and was possible in part due to the support of imago, an organization dedicated to helping emerging artists.

Kingston's PIC Press writes: Kingston native Jeanine Noyes's debut CD transparent is immediately mesmerizing. "My Love," the opening track showcases her angelic vocals and makes you stop what you're doing and listen. Backed by a four-piece band, her voice is a wonderful blend of a young Carly Simon and a tame Sarah McLaughlin. Haunting, seductive, roomy, and at times dark, the music expresses a funky, jazzy, often folky mood. Not to be drawn into the web of the beautifully stark "Abide With Me" seems impossible. This is a fine debut from a vital, inventive songstress who sounds like she's been recording for years.

Two tracks from transparent, "My Love" (track 1) and "I Don't See How" (track 2) are available for download in their entirety. The tracks are in mp3 format, encoded at 160 Kb/s.

2000 Candles

2000 CandlesGlen Sumi of NOW Magazine said of 2000 Candles: "It'd be difficult to find a more entertaining or thoughtful holiday offering than 2000 Candles . . . Performed by a versatile quartet (Ins Choi, Jeanine Noyes, Richard Peters and Tracy Thomas) who are asked to sing, act and play instruments -- one minute they're a bluegrass band, the next they're a gospel choir -- the show's individual pieces are well-rounded, fluid and always theatrical . . . Carson avoids the predictable. A sensual and almost erotic sequence about the joys of holiday eating and drinking, for instance, doesn't lead to a sermon on gluttony and excess. And Jeanine Noyes's arrangements of songs old, new and from different cultures are revelatory."

The recording of the show captures the spirit of the original, and showcases the many talents of the cast members.
